Research Interests

Our research focuses on developing next-generation multi-dimensional biological imaging techniques and using them to explore the mystery of the complex biological system. Including:

1. multi-dimensional biological imaging techniques development;

2. the molecular mechanism of pathogen-host interactions;

3. Quantitative biomolecular dynamic imaging;

4. AI-assisted biological imaging.

Awards & Honors

Dr. Hou Shangguo’s research focuses on the development of high spatiotemporal resolution optical microscopy techniques and their applications in biological systems. He has developed a series of multi-dimensional imaging methods to study the interactions between biomolecules and cells under various systems and conditions, addressing molecular and cellular systems at different scales. Shangguo’s work has been published in many high impact journals including Nature Communications, Science Bulletin, Small, Optics Letters, APL Photonics and Optics Express. The research work has been positively cited by prestigious journals such as Nature Photonics, Molecular Cell, and ACS Nano,and has been highlighted multiple times by academic websites such as Phys.org and Duke Research. He has been a member of American Biophysical Society and American Association for the Advancement of Science since 2016 and 2019, respectively.
