Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) sincerely invites outstanding talents of all levels in biomedical frontier research from well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad to join us as an independent Principal Investigator (PI). Areas of interest include but are not limited to Neuroscience, Immunology, Bio-Interactions (Cryo-ET), Multi-omics, Biomaterials, Reproductive and Developmental Biology.
This faculty opening operates on a rolling basis. Areas of recruitment will be dynamically adjusted in line with the development plans of SMART and will be announced in a timely manner. We seek applicants with a national or international reputation for high-quality independent research, evidenced by original and influential intellectual contributions. The ideal candidate will actively engage in teaching and supervising students, postdoctoral fellow, and research staff. PIs are expected to lead an extramurally funded research program that complements and synergizes with SMART's strategic scope, backed by generous start-up support. Senior PIs will additionally mentor junior faculty. The following PI positions are available at SMART:
Senior PI (Tenured Full Professor Level)
1. Hold, or have held a tenured full professor appointment (or an equivalent senior research position) at a recognized university or research institution, either domestically or internationally.
2. Demonstrate a record of systematic and innovative academic achievements with significant contributions to the field.
3. Possess a strong international reputation and scholarly influence.
4. Have a proven track record of excellence in teaching at the graduate level and in effectively mentoring early-career researchers.
PI (Associate Professor Level)
1. Hold, or have held an associate professor appointment (or an equivalent research position) at a recognized university or research institution, either domestically or internationally.
2. Demonstrate innovative research capability and show potential to become future leader in the field.
3. Possess experience in teaching and mentoring.
Junior PI (Tenure-track Assistant Professor Level)
1. Hold a doctoral degree and have completed postdoctoral research training.2. Demonstrate academic qualifications that meet the standard for an assistant professor position (or an equivalent independent research role) at a recognized university or research institution, either domestically or internationally.3. Possess innovative research capability, with clear evidence of potential to establish an independent research program.
Qualified candidates will receive an internationally competitive salary, ample start-up funds, excellent office and modern lab. State-of-the-art core facilities, translational platforms, and interdisciplinary academic environment are also available at SMART. Assistance will be provided in applying for various scientific projects, funding and awards.
