On March 22nd, Prof. Nieng Yan, President of Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (planned) and Director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (concurrent) and Prof. Yun-Dong Wu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Executive Vice Director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, made statements successively. Xiaojun Hu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, presided over the meeting.
Prof. Nieng Yan expressed gratitude to the leaders and departments at the provincial, municipal, and district levels for their support and trust, and to the hard work delivered by the staff from Shenzhen Bay Laboratory. She also paid tribute to Academician Yun-Dong Wu and other laboratory leaders for their efforts and outstanding contributions. Prof. Yan expressed her willingness to join hands with all laboratory staff and friends from various sectors who are concerned about the development of the lab, pooling their wisdom and strength, overcoming challenges, in order to build internationally recognized, first-class research institution.
In his speech, Prof. Yundong Wu stated that the achievements of the laboratory were made possible by the strong support of leaders at all levels in the city and province, as well as the joint efforts of all employees of the laboratory. Reflecting on the four-year development of the laboratory, his heart was filled with gratitude and satisfaction. Despite the enormous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the laboratory staff worked tirelessly and cooperatively to complete the first phase of the construction, laying a solid foundation. He expressed confidence in Prof. Yan's leadership in guiding the future development of the laboratory, and he hoped that everyone would not forget their original intention, work together in good faith, and create a better future for the laboratory.
Mr. Xiaojun Hu stated that in the four years since the establishment of the lab, there has been stability and harmony, well-ordered operations, a gathering of talents, and remarkable achievements. In the future, he hopes that all members of the laboratory will work with even greater enthusiasm, a more-solid work style, and will join forces to work hard in order to not disappoint the earnest expectations of leaders at all levels. This will truly make the laboratory a world-class innovation center.
