Research Interests

Professor Mao Ying has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years and has performed over 12,000 cranial surgeries. He has actively explored the integration of classic minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques with cutting-edge brain science research achievements, achieving multiple theoretical and technical innovations and breakthroughs in two major fields: brain tumors and cerebrovascular diseases. These include identifying various molecular characteristics of gliomas and taking the lead in achieving precise resection of brain gliomas along molecular boundaries, as well as establishing an individualized intracranial and extracranial cerebral blood flow reconstruction surgical system, which not only effectively treats complex cerebrovascular diseases but also improves vascular cognitive impairment. The overall treatment effect has reached the international advanced level, with some aspects leading the world.

As a core expert in the field of brain diseases, he participated in formulating the national brain initiative strategic plan and presided over the establishment of one of the largest national neurological disease centers. He has published more than 200 SCI papers in journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Cell, Cancer Cell, and has obtained more than 30 patents. As the primary contributor, he has won 1 National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize and 4 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress First Prizes, and was awarded the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award, making significant contributions to the integrated development of neurosurgery and brain science in China.
